Solace is a residential or inpatient treatment programme. It is a rehabilitation centre, subscribing to the internationally accepted Minnesota Model of treatment. We offer psychological assessment and treatment. We work with the whole person; their past, present and their immediate future. Through the Minnesota Model we help clients change their perspective on their addiction and give them a structure on how to stay clean and even on how to live a happy and abundant life, independent from mood altering chemicals.
Why go to 'drug or alcohol rehab'?
Removal of denial is a major hurdle for every person to overcome. In most cases, the drug addict or alcoholic tend to minimize their use and the consequences with it. They tend to block out or deny the negative impact drug or alcohol use is having on themselves and their family. While in rehab, through the use of various clinical techniques, patients are assisted in 'breaking' through their denial and working towards accepting and taking responsibility for their actions.
What is addiction treatment about?
Treatment at Solace means a residential treatment program for 3 weeks. In these 3 weeks the client (I prefer to call our residents clients) will have group sessions as well as individual counseling. The group sessions are focused on addiction treatment, coping skills, addictive thinking, relapse prevention, change of behavior, and many other topics. In the 1/1 sessions with an allocated counselor we look at the often so crucial underlying psychological problems, such as mood- and or personality disorders. Family intervention is for us a vital way of treatment; alcoholism and drug addiction are a family disease, it involves everybody around the alcoholic and always leads to forms of co-dependency. What we do insist on also is an intensive aftercare, both for the clients and their families. These are sessions with the counselor that used to be the residential counselor or another specialist. 12-Step support groups, development of of daily living skills and healthy support systems are of paramount importance.
Our unique approach at Solace is that we form a relationship with our clients, and as just mentioned, this relationship does not end when the client leaves the residential program. We give our clients a lot of space to deal with their feelings, their deepest concerns and issues. It is because of their feelings that they started using in the first place and it is because of their feelings that they would like to recover from their addiction.
Our mission is to help people sustain lifelong recovery from addiction.
Accommodating a total of 20 clients, the splendid facilities create a natural, tranquil, but especially safe environment. So important for people in recovery to be in a place calm and conductive to their mental health, and total wellbeing.
We create condidtions where our clients are safe and being cared for. We communicate an understanding to their needs and problems. We encourage self exploration in an environment of positive regard to personal growth.
Most of the clients still find themselves still deep in the trap of chemical dependency, thus specialised skills are required in dealing with addiction. Our program is supported by a team of psychologists, social workers, counselors and therapists, nursing and supporting staff.
